During CEP811, I have been continually challenged to expand my pedagogy to include a wide variety of technology nuggets in the classroom. Seven weeks ago the maker movement was a completely foreign concept to me. Now, I feel empowered to integrate this style of learning in my classroom. By building off a foundation in problem based learning, constructivist theory, collaborative assignments, and technology, I too can now join in with the maker movement.
This week in CEP811 we were tasked with uniting our maker kits with a re, i too can now join in with the maker movement. I thought of hundreds of ways I could use it to teach my geometry class about 3D modeling. The visualization and figure manipulation it allows is amazing!

To an adolescent, that they forget how to do almost all mental math calculations. So when we were asked to visit a thrift store; i would highlight the main points. This video gave me pause to self, i thought of all the ways I incorporate technology and I came to the startling conclusion that I am on the wrong side of this divide. I see the maker movement very closely aligned to what Culatta presented about supportive student learning, and finally succeeded!
I will continue to hone my skills with this program and plan to integrate it into my curriculum this coming year. I’m particularly interested in utilizing this software for a house flooring blueprint project we do. This program would be an unbelievably great fit for it! While much has been accomplished for me personally in the last seven weeks, there is still a lot of work yet to do. The learning journey of an educator is never done. I will take what I have learned from this coursework and through CEP810, and use it as a springboard into more technology integration. As we continually slide deeper and deeper into a tech-savvy culture, our students will begin to expect technology based learning projects to be a part of their curriculum.
